    Introduction Meeting : Defining the Goals

    The first meeting is our introduction to you and your project. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, appreciating this is the beginning of a personal collaboration. By asking selective questions and listening we assist the client to define their Functional / Aesthetic Goals, the Budget and to express their vision for the project.

    Schematic Design (SD) : Searching for Solutions

    Documentation of Existing Conditions; document existing conditions, photography, architectural drawings, site surveys. Programing; Quantifying and defining specific goals. Visualizing Solutions; presenting images of design ideas (Pinterest, Magazines) and hand drawing sketches that help to communicate and visualize solutions, Seeking to define the “Big Picture”.

    Design Development (DD) : Refining to Solutions

    With approval of the Schematic Design we refine the solutions during the Design Development Phase. Computer drawings are started to refine the design and serve as the basis for Construction Documentation. Floor Plans, Ceiling Plans, Elevations and Details are developed. Product information and Vendor Pricing is collected to inform the components of the design. During this phase we collaborate closely with the client to verify and refine the design. A Preliminary Cost Estimate can be requested of the General Contractor, if selected at this time, and adjustments are made responding the clients input, budget targets and builders input on means and methods of construction.

  • Construction Documents (CD) : Documenting the Solutions

    With a refined design and preliminary costs approved, the architectural drawings are developed to create a fully coordinated set of documents as required for a building permit, and serve as a basis of final pricing and construction.

    These drawings vary depending on the project type and scope, can include : foundation plans, floor plans, exterior and interior elevations, ceiling plans, lighting plans, finish plans and a detailed set of product specifications. Coordination with other project consultants as required can include : landscape architect, structural engineer, mechanical engineer, lighting designer and audio visual designer.

    Construction Administration (CA) : Realizing the Solutions

    Studio A2 believes our participating in the construction phase of your project is crucial to achieving the best results. We consider sub contractors as both craftsman and collaborators, vital to realizing the design. As the clients agent we work to assure the work conforms to the drawings, specifications and design intent.

    Procurement: Additional Services

    Furniture, Decorative Lighting, Specialty Fixtures, Art Work and Products may be purchased directly through STUDIO A2 LLC.

    Procurement Services :

    • Assuring of best trade pricing
    • Preparation of all purchase orders, assisting with Client payments
    • Tracking and expediting of all items purchased
    • Supervising installation of purchased products
    • Follow-up with vendors for any product issues
    • Quality Control
